We examine effective field theories (EFTs) with a continuum sector in the presence of gravity. first explain, via arguments based on central charge and species scale, that an EFT free cannot consistently couple to standard (i.e. 4D Einstein) It follows EFTs or nearly-free must either have finite number degrees freedom nonstandard The latter claim is realized for holographically-defined models. demonstrate this by computing deviations from gravity specific 5D scalar-gravity system gives rise gapped (i.e linear dilaton background). find $R^{-2}$ deviation Newtonian potential. At temperature we energy density matter-like behavior brane Friedmann equation, holographically induced bulk geometry. Thus, remarkably, brane-world living background automatically contains dark matter. also present slightly more evolved asymptotically-AdS model, which exhibit transition between AdS behaviors.
